The Wrekin

The Wrekin is a hill near Telford that is thought to have been formed by a giant. On his way to dump a huge spade full of soil in the river Severn in order to flood Shrewsbury, which for some reason he hated the townsfolk of, the giant met a sneaky cobbler who pretended that Shrewsbury was a very very long way away. This made the giant abandon his plan, so he just dumped the soil where he was, forming the Wrekin.

(or, there might be some geological explanation...)



We set off at 10:30AM and marched up the, relative to our London walks, steep incline with family. We did the entire walk to the summit in about 40 minutes, where we took this selfie:
