Day 7 Streatham to (beyond) Crystal Palace

Two walks in two weeks - what's happening??

We started off with a delicious brunch in Clapham Junction at The Birdhouse Cafe:

We then took the train to Streatham Common and walked up to the Rookery in Streatham Common. During the walk it started raining quite a lot, so we paused in a cafe for my third coffee of the day and waited for the rain to ease off a bit.

We then set off in the drizzle to explore the Rookery itself which was a really pretty garden. We liked the fact that because the weather was wet we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves and it felt we had discovered a secret place (that I'm sure is packed if it's sunny!)

Then we walked through the grounds of a mansion that had something to do with the fact it used to be a spa town or something.

There were some really beautiful views from here so we took some panos:

From there it was a lovely walk through some parks and along some residential streets where saw two poodles 🐩🐩

Nearing the official end of the walk we had a lovely stroll through Crystal Palace park where we saw some dinosaurs, and the sun came out. We also stopped off for a much-needed cup of tea and a cake.

This joined us up to Penge East which was one of our first walks where we stopped for chips! We had missed of a couple of loops from that walk because we were losing light (and energy) so we filled them in.

Feeling pretty pleased with ourselves we took the train to go for a drink.
