Day 4 West Ham to Beckton Park

The route.

After an almost 28 month hiatus, we're back! (Yes, it can be done in about a week, but we like to savour it).

Our walk started at West Ham station, where we joined the Greenway: a footpath and cycle way built over the old embankment of the Northern outfall sewers. It did smell a bit pongy in places. It used to be known of as Sewer Bank, so calling it the Greenway is a far more appealing name.  Being elevated you get snippets of parts of London such as the City and the Isle of Dogs.

The City

This part of the walk is free from traffic, except occasionally having to cross road. It's more or less a straight line, so isn't difficult to navigate.

We turned right off the Greenway and crossed the A13 to reach Beckton District Park. The park labels interesting tree species, such as the Cider Gum tree from Australia.

Feeling energised and endorphin-buzzed, we could have continued our walk around London City Airport to the Woolwich ferry, but we decided to leave that for another day, and made our way to Beckton Park station and took the DLR back to the car, wondering when our next section would take place...

London City Airport. It was like I'd never seen a plane before.
